ROAD TO WORLDCUP TWENTY20 ‘09

Have you caught a dose of the WorldCup Fever yet?

icc-world-twenty20

It’s that time of the game when fans turn into fanatics and supporters turn into reporters! So here they are, cohesive together as one invincible unit, the runners up of the last T20 WorldCup, Team Pakistan, who will soon be seen dressed in their green armors, waging their wars in the 2nd ICC World T20 at England. With batters who slog as if they have bats made of metal, and bowlers who bowl as if throwing stones at the devil, the Pakistani cricket side has got a lot to offer its fans this time.

So when is the extravaganza starting?

June 5, ’09!!

And what’s new this time?

The 2009 event sees both the men’s and women’s tournament integrated for the first time. The Finals day will be hosted at Lord’s that will bring the men’s and women’s tournaments together with the men’s matches following the women’s match on each match-day.

A key feature of the 2009 event is that the majority of match-days will include two games showcasing four different teams.

Sneak Preview of Paki Stats

  • Umar Gul is the leading wicket taker in World T20 [ 13 wickets in 7 matches ]
  • Shahid Afridi stands 4th in the same World T20 leading wicket takers list [ 12 wickets in 7 matches]
  • Also, Afridi has the 5th best World T20 bowling figures of 4/19.
  • Misbah-ul-Haq stands 3rd in the list of leading run scorers [ 218 runs in 7 matches ]
  • Shoaib Malik stands 4th in the list of leading run scorers [ 195 runs in 7 matches ]
  • Shahid Afridi has the best batting strike rate [ Strike rate of 197.83 by scoring 91 runs in 7 matches ]

Pakistani champs and their fans!

So how are you going to buck up your national side? Like the way Brazilians do for their soccer side? Be it graffiti’s on the walls, or hoisting Paki flags on the rooftops, or wearing Team Pakistan’s jersey or blazers, or even writing high about your national side, just as I did, you just let the world know WHO YOU ARE! ‘Cause you are a supporter of TEAM PAKISTAN, the team, most of the cricket world is taking heed of.

ICC World T20 '09 Trophy

I wish them all the best. Looking forward to see the Green Army lift the 2nd World T20 trophy at the Lord’s balcony.

Go team!!

A good topic you’ve chosen to mark the change of your blog’s theme. I love the colours. Simple and elegant. Keep it up Farrukh! Let us keep our nationalist spirits high in these testing times, when our nation feels let down and frustrated. It is individuals like you who matter.
